About Peek-a-Boss
🎮 Overview
What makes Peek-a-Boss stand out?
Peek-a-Boss is a one-tap archery game full of cheeky cartoon monsters. Each boss stands behind a wooden wall with a narrow gap in it, and your bow slides back and forth along the bottom of the screen. Tap at the right moment and the arrow flies straight through the gap and into the boss's backside, with a yelp, a wobble and a funny line. Every level is a boss fight with its own health bar: a hundred of them, across five places from a green wood and a misty swamp to snowy pines, a moonlit graveyard and a fire mountain. The bosses do not just stand there. Little copies of the boss walk under the gap, ghosts float in front of it, minions run along the top of the wall, a gate slams the gap shut, a second wall slides in front of the first, and every fifth level a giant boss fights back with a shield, calls in helpers or grows bigger with every hit.
Game Rules
Each level gives you a quiver of arrows and a clock. Bring the boss's health to zero before you run out of either. A hit through the gap does 1 damage; a PERFECT hit, right through the middle of the gap, does 2. An arrow that hits the wall, a guard, a ghost, a minion or a shut gate is lost, but whatever it hits pops and is gone. In the last 10 seconds the boss gets angry and everything moves faster. Some levels send a helper running by with a bubble over its head: shoot it to win a short power-up for free, and the arrow comes back to you. You earn up to three stars per level for the fewest arrows shot, and clearing a level opens the next one. If you run out of arrows or time, you can watch a short ad once per try for 3 more arrows or 15 more seconds.
🕹 How to play Peek-a-Boss?
Step-by-step to play Peek-a-Boss:
1. Tap Play. The first time, a short How to Play card shows you the basics.
2. Watch the bow slide along the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap anywhere (or press Space) when the bow lines up with the gap in the wall.
4. Aim for the middle of the gap for a PERFECT hit and double damage.
5. Time your shots around the guards, ghosts, minions and gates that get in the way.
6. Knock the boss out before the arrows or the clock run out, collect your stars and move on to the next level.
Tips for mastering Peek-a-Boss:
- Do not rush. The bow keeps the same speed all level, so watch one full swing before you shoot.
- PERFECT hits count twice, and a streak of hits multiplies your score.
- When a gate guards the gap, shoot just as it lifts.
- Helpers with a bubble are worth an arrow: you get the power-up and the arrow back.
- Save Freeze or Wide slot for the hardest stretch of a level, such as the boss's angry last 10 seconds.
- Try a magic bow from BOWS before a tough level. It only looks different, but a fire, frost or thunder trail makes every hit feel better.
❓ FAQs
Q: Is Peek-a-Boss free to play?
A: Yes. It runs in the browser with no download and no install, on a phone or a computer.
Q: How many levels are there?
A: One hundred, each one a boss fight, with a giant boss every fifth level. Every level is the same for every player, so you can learn it.
Q: What are the magic bows?
A: Six special bows (Phoenix, Frost, Thunder, Royal, Elven and Candy), each with its own arrows, trail and hit effect. Watch a short ad in BOWS to use one for your next try; after that you are back to the Wooden Bow. They are only for show and never change the damage.
Q: Is my progress saved?
A: Yes. Your stars and your best score on every level are kept on your device, and when you are signed in, all your best scores added up go to the leaderboard.
🏆 Conclusion
Line up the shot, let it fly and hear the boss yelp. Peek-a-Boss takes one tap to learn and a hundred bosses to master, with a new trick waiting behind every wall.
